Barbara Lester is a native of Greenville, SC and
is a mental health counselor. She holds a BA in
Sociology from the University of South Carolina
and a MA in Mental Health Counseling from
Webster University. Barbara is licensed in the
state of South Carolina as a Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC),
certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a National
Certified Counselor (NCC).
Barbara is also the owner of Upstate Counseling Center, LLC located in
Greenville, SC and has been in private practice for 12 years. Barbara has over
20 years of counseling experience.
At TESPA, we strive to create a community that fosters spiritual growth and understanding. Our mission is to provide resources and support for individuals seeking to deepen their faith.
Regional Program Director
Dr. Rodney Johnson is a Regional Program Director for Sevita Healthcare and an adjunct faculty member at Spartanburg Community College. Dr. Johnson holds several degrees in education and counseling. Dr. Johnson is married and father of three children and one grandson. His motto: “If you have built castles in the air, your need not be lost; that is where they should be. DR. ARTHUR BREWTON Husband, father, educator, church-elder, mentor, giver!
Dr. Arthur Brewton is a multifaceted individual who excels in various roles. As a husband, father, educator, church elder, and mentor, he has touched the lives of many through his diverse contributions. His commitment to education and mentorship has helped shape the future of countless students, while his role as a church elder has provided spiritual guidance to his congregation. Dr. Brewton's dedication to his community and family is evident in his actions and the positive impact he has had on those around him.
Dr. Brewton's legacy is one of giving and service. His work as an educator and mentor has not only influenced the academic success of his students but also instilled in them the values of hard work and perseverance. As a church elder, he has been a source of spiritual support and wisdom, helping to strengthen the faith of his congregation. Dr. Brewton's contributions extend beyond the classroom and the church, as he continues to inspire and uplift those around him through his kindness and generosity.
Dr. Joycelyn Hardy, a native of Spartanburg, SC, is a dedicated resident physician currently pursuing her training in Family Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in Charleston, SC.
Throughout her medical journey, Dr. Hardy explored various specialties, initially drawn to Pediatrics for its appeal of working with children. However, her rotations in Pediatrics and OB/GYN revealed her passion for working with a diverse patient population, including adults and women’s health. It was during her Family Medicine rotation that Dr. Hardy found her true calling, recognizing the specialty's ability to encompass all her interests and provide comprehensive care.
Dr. Hardy is currently a proud member of the University of North Carolina Family Medicine Residency Program. Her professional interests include pediatrics, women’s health, and promoting diversity within the medical field.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Hardy enjoys spending her free time shopping, watching movies, and creating lasting memories with friends and family. She also has a passion for baking desserts and engaging in various crafting activities.

Apostle Bertha McDowell is a dedicated leader and Presider of The ASK Ministries Global Network, Inc. Her mission centers around The Five-Fold Ministry, which aims to help believers gain knowledge of the truth and equip the Body of Christ to advance the Kingdom of God. She has been ministering for over five decades, passionately traveling across the United States to preach and deliver God's message, driven by the Holy Spirit. Recently, she oversaw the mass baptism of 30 individuals, showcasing her commitment to guiding others in their faith journey.
Apostle McDowell's work is deeply rooted in empowering believers and fostering spiritual growth. Her dedication to the ministry is evident in her tireless efforts to reach and uplift communities. Through her leadership, she has inspired countless individuals to deepen their faith and embrace their spiritual paths. Her influence extends far beyond her immediate congregation, as she continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for many.

She has been an Elementary School Teacher, GED Instructor, Licensed Social Worker for 40 Years, Victim Advocate over 25 years, a Mental Health Facilitator and a Retired Magistrate Judge. She serves as SGT. At Arms for SCLEVA (South Carolina Law Enforcement Victim Advocate). She is presently employed by Piedmont Community Actions, Inc., as the Disability Manager. Dr. Simmons was elected and has served 20 years on Spartanburg School District 3 Board of Trustees and serving presently as the South Carolina School Board Association Director of Region 14 in the State of South Carolina.
